

Actually, the movie was really only one chapter of that book – the age of thirteen. That was the book about my life with my mom that I ended up adapting into the movie Tumbleweeds. Q: What was the first piece of work you ever wrote?Ī: I wrote many pieces as a youngster, but my first manuscript was Tumbleweeds when I was 19 living in Paris. I entered and won many writing contests from an early age. My mother was my biggest influence, urging me to write down my life experiences and the stories I was always sharing as the family actress. Q: How old were you when you first started writing?Ī: I was eight when I began writing. I had never thought about writing them, but it turned out that I was pretty good at it. I ended up writing the female parts and he wrote the males. I said I’d allow that if I wrote it with him. He loved it and said it would make a great screenplay. I wrote my first book when I was nineteen and shared it with a director I had just worked with. Q: What initially inspired you to become a screenwriter?Ī: I started off wanting to be a novelist actually. She also just released her book by the name of Finding Angela Shelton: The True Story of One Woman’s Triumph over Sexual Abuse. Angela is an advocate to end violence against women, which can be seen in both her documentary and book.
